South Florida is known for many things: Its year-round sunshine, beautiful beaches, attractive residents, and bizarre news stories. Toward the end of 2012 I heard the outrageous news of a 32 year old man who had entered into a cockroach eating contest held by a local Deerfield Beach reptile store in hopes of winning a rare python. Although victorious, the man shortly after became violently ill in the parking lot and died before medical professionals could arrive. I felt that this type of bizarre news would fit in perfectly within one of Vice Magazine's articles. Incorporating my illustration work and knowledge of publication design, I created a mock article for Vice's 2012 the "It's Actually Quite Weird" issue.
